M6.Net  Weekly  News     September 6 2006

Michael Guilfoyle
Director

Welcome
The focus for this week is to improve our support response rates, simplify the UI in the control panel and make improvements in the Automation.

Currently we have more support than normal, which is expected due to a number of server moves. By this time next week this will have been completely sorted out. The reason we expect higher than normal support is that these servers are some of our oldest servers. On our older servers we had different directory structure and previous support teams had implemented settings outside the database. All new accounts from the past 4 years are not affected. in moving these server we have done our best to pick up all the particular settings and reconfigure them but we expected there are some we are likely to miss out of the many thousands of individual configurations.

Mary is focusing her attention to simplify the control panel UI and make the control panel UI more responsive. Also in this process improvements to automation will also be made, particular with how it reports the results to users.

This week we have completed the most critical stages of our mass server move. Every client involved has been notified and set up on the new machines; and all that remains is to clear up a few settings specific to a few older sites. And again, I will list the new DNS server details (now about 3 weeks old); for anyone who didn't receive our update email:

Primary Nameserver: DNS.M6.NET
Primary Nameserver IP: 66.98.182.40
Secondary Nameserver: NIC.M6.NET
Secondary Nameserver IP: 70.86.49.58
Tertiary Nameserver: NS3.M6.NET
Tertiary Nameserver IP: 70.86.49.60

You will need to make sure that your site is pointing correctly at your registrar as the old machines will most likely be turned off for good sometime in the next few days.15:25

This week has seen support levels rise, however we've expected this due to the mass move of clients off our oldest network. The majority of the move has gone well, however there are still some clients experiencing issues, with file copies and SQL db's being the major issues. Other than that, things are pretty smooth this week.

This week has been pretty much the same as last week in terms of development. We were mainly focused on fixing bugs in applications which occurred as a result of the server moves.
