M6.Net  Weekly  News     January 04, 2004

Director

  Welcome

It's good to be back and into 2004. Over the last week the Mars Spirit landing and pictures really got me excited about the possibilities of what the distant future holds for us... ok so it's not about hosting, but it is very cool and I just could not help thinking about what it might be like extending the internet to such distant places.

If you are as excited as me about such things check out http://www.orbitersim.com. You can actually recreate and simulate many space missions on your PC with this free space simulator which we sponsor and provide hosting for: Download it and recreate Apollo missions, shuttle missions or create your own space craft and zoom all over the solar system. The graphics are awesome. From time to time I'll show you some of the other very cool things we sponsor here at M6.Net

Well, 2003 is gone and we are happy with the goals achieved in last year. This year we have even more exciting projects and goals to achieve – new site/products, increasing the range of hosting plans, adding new/improved technologies, fully automated and customizable control panel, training more people for Account management, and so on.

In the next 2 weeks I will be reviewing day-to-day operations and procedures working very close with our Account Management, Network Administration and Development groups. This is to ensure that all day-to-day operations are running smooth all the time allowing us to spend more time and focus on projects and goals to help you do more on the Internet

  Network Administration
I have been on holidays for the last 2 weeks so this week I spent quite a bit of time on making sure all the backups were made and did a few checks to see if everything was running well.

Tomcat (JSP) should be ready to go very soon on IIS 5 however there are a few problems on IIS 6 as the tomcat connectors only in IIS 5 Isolation mode. We are running IIS 6 in native mode which has much better performance and security. Hopefully there will be a tomcat connector released which will work under IIS native mode.

Happy New Year to all!

This week I will be scheduling some time to continue the server balancing plans to increase Server Efficiency.

This Week, I start working on Automation for Stats Server, and hopefully will be released early next week.

I have been constantly monitoring the Automation Logs during the Holiday period, and have fixed some of errors that I found.
