  Welcome

Mary is doing well in her new role as lead developer, already she has created a number of internal billing scripts. The scripts are simple; but understanding our systems and structures is the challenging part, and she is doing very well.

Our new banking systems is in place and is far less lenient with the processing of credit cards, especially when dealing with expiry dates and insufficient funds (which would previously be sorted out when clearing between banks, which could take some time). To ensure there is no disruption to your account, please ensure your credit card details are up to date - if there is an issue with a card when we process it for charges (monthly accounts, or when your prepaid time is up for renewal) we will mark the account as "Warning Suspend" and send a notice, giving you only seven days to resolve it. If it is not sorted out within that 7 day period the account is will be suspended and your sites will be stopped. Once suspended, the account will be marked deleted after 7 days and the files will be deleted within 30 days.

For the past week I have been working closely with Bob in relation to various operations issues and plans; just lots and lots of little day to day details. Over this past week my new notebook has been slowly coming apart, and finally blue screened on me and keeled over. It's my own fault due to the large number of programs I try out, and install and uninstall. Michael N has finally convinced me to run a copy of Windows inside VMare Player to install and try out new software. That's definitely one thing I will be doing today after I rebuild my base notebook installation. VMare Player, I am told, is now a free piece of software for personal use. Great for having several OS's running to try out and test software.

I've been busy this week, with various billing-related things as well as tying up as many loose ends as possible before the coming long weekend. I've also been updating our emergency documentation and maintenance procedure, to help us as we continue to add new staff to the team.

We've also had to cope with the forced retirement of one of our oldest machines - moving everyone to our newest web server. All affected clients have already been notified, but if you have been having troubles with your website over the past week, please check your control panel to make sure the details you're using are up to date.

This week has been busier than usual for support, with the server issue from last week still in the process of being resolved. It looks as though we're past the worst of it now so things are on the up from here on in. Other than that, there have not been any problematic servers or issues so expect response times to be back to normal shortly.

Hi, Mary has been working on some internal systems this week, basically getting her head around our whole operations including company culture, code base and the database structure. She is doing an excellent job so far and we will ask her to start to develop more new things in the next few weeks.
