M6.Net  Weekly  News    March 13 2005

Michael Guilfoyle
Director

  Welcome

A lot of internal work has been going on - so the newsletters might seem a little boring and odd at the moment. Once we get our internal operations to next level of efficiency and effectiveness we will increase our efforts on external communications. But we are doing our best to explain the little "big" things happening inside M6.Net. These things are mainly to ensure we can handle the next phase of growth.

Spent a lot of time looking at all our procedures and what we have planed on the internal training program so we do not miss anything.

After working with Gavan we are going to put a lot more 'checks and balances' in all automated maintenance procedures like backups.

I am also working closely with the developers on the finishing touches of the data mining reports.

Gavan O'Connor-Risch

Network Administration

This week I have been cleaning web and mail servers of deleted account data, and have also upgraded all the stats servers to the latest version of SmarterStats, which should see some of the recent issues resolved. I have also been looking into some ASP issues on a few web servers, and setting up a new backup server for internal use.

I have also been developing project plans to document procedures, checks and automation requirements to add greater effeciences.

On the weekend we noticed one of our web servers was having problems with IIS because of one client using bad coding.  Please Make sure that scripts are tested on your local machines first (where possible) before uploading them to the server.

During the next week we will be continuing to work on Training Documentation and Procedures.

As a team we will also be working on the New Control Panel to get it closer to a Beta Release.
