Welcome | |

Busy week for all of us this week. Bob and Kunal are doing a great
job with operations and gearing us to ramp up towards more exciting
developments. New networks, SQL Server 2005, .Net 2 and more
coming.
I am working hard with Michael, Vijay and Ananth to optimize project schedules so we can move forward on new developments to offer some exciting new hosting options which I am hoping we can release early next year around January. I have also been working very closely with Rohan on the new site developments mainly going over design issues, text and other little bits and pieces that you feel no one will ever notice but in the overall picture makes quite a difference. New site will be online this week. We came across this in a Web Hosting News alert the other day. I am sure this will be of interest to many of you. It's
been a big week. One of our upstream
providers re-allocated their IP
space, putting us in the unenviable
position of having to coordinate a
change of IP address for around 1900
customers. I sent out a mass email
to affected customers, but if your
website's (or database server's, or
mail server's) IP address previously
looked like 69.4x.x.x, then please
check your control panel for the new
address. We have done everything we
can (changed DNS entries, etc.) to
make this as painless as possible.
We also have had some drama with another of our database servers - which we are currently rushing to rebuild. We will be restoring from the backups we have, but I'm afraid that some data loss may occur. If you find you are having troubles with your database later in the week, please contact support@m6.net and we'll do what we can to have you back up and running. And in much more exciting news, we are going to be expanding to an additional network in the near future. This will be where we provision our newest machines, with .Net 2.0 and SQL Server 2005, and it will have gigabit ethernet between machines, which will mean database driven sites that need to communicate between machines will be quicker then ever. |

Again a good with everything moving ahead very well. Our support team is able to handle a lot of queries and we are trying to maintain and improve our ETA on support requests. As mentioned in my last news letter, about the ideas and improvements you think we should implement, I have got many emails with a lot of good ideas and suggestions. Thank you very much to everyone for taking the time to send them in. So, if you feel you have missed your chance to send them in you can always send me your feedback and ideas at kunalk@m6.net. We will do our best to address and implement new ideas suggested by you. There were some hardware issues related to a database server this week which we are just finishing off now. Unfortunately servers are machines which do just fail. We test and monitor all equipment as best we can. We always do our best to avoid such issues and will always reflect on the experiences to learn from them - but it is always hard, if not impossible, to prevent unexpected hardware failures. Tip of the Week: Any support tickets that you submit, please make sure that you are providing complete problem details. This will help us to get a faster resolution to you. |

Hi everyone, the development of the new
control panel is moving along. We have had some problems with our automation on a few servers the last couple of days due to the IP address changes on one of our networks which we are trying to solve at the moment. Ananth is working hard to fix all issues we face. Vijay has been working on our new m6.net website which will be released today. He will be back working on the control panel after the release. |
