Welcome | |
|
A lot of time and effort is going into perfecting the server move:
switching from the older servers to the new ones. We will be letting
clients know before we do the move and we are thoroughly testing
everything.
Javier's scripts replicate everything - in excruciating detail. We will also have the old servers up for a week after the move and will keep the servers available for a month after the move, before they are 'put out to pasture for good'. :-) Aaron is making good progress on the new CP user interface and you will be seeing a new version in the coming fortnight or so. |

| At present I
am working with Chin and Javier who are developing and testing tools and
procedures on moving clients from the older servers to the new ones.
Javier has done most of the coding to read the data/configurations from
the old server and copy them on to the new server and Chin is testing
those tools and programs. This week and onward I will be working on few different projects basically fixing small little annoying bugs from our system/CP, update our FAQs and so on. The objective is to increase the overall efficiency of our account management team and reduce the support queries empowering people like yourself to do more on your own. |

In the last week, we have been preparing
everything for the server moves. We are moving clients off our old
Windows 2000 servers and setting them up again on Windows 2003. I have
had to setup a new server as well as making sure all client data is
moved. I am currently working on tightening our security on the servers. |

This week I will be working closely with
management to improve the support team procedures and communication
which will reduce Support times. |

| In this week, I'm working
on the server-transfer script. I have been extracting and replicating
the Database and IIS information to set up the new server. The good
thing is it is also giving us a chance to sync our main control database
with what is on the server. There is a number of items that have been
setup manually by the Support Team that did not make it into the
database. I am fixing issues pointed out by Chin, while he is doing the test transfers and I will have completed it in the next few days. |
